The director general of the Caisse des dépôts Eric Lombard, who hopes to be reappointed, defended his record on Tuesday before the Senate finance committee, before being heard again at 5:15 p.m. by the National Assembly.
“I am very honored this morning (…) to present to you my candidacy for the position of general manager of the Caisse des Dépts”, indicated in the preamble the holder of the position since December 2017, proposed by the Elyse to re-pile for a second term.
Mr. Lombard highlighted his record, in particular the creation of the Banque des Territoires in 2018 and its action since then. “It seems to me that the Caisse is now stronger, more efficient, serving our territories and the economy,” said the former insurance executive (BNP-Paribas, Generali).
The senators must proceed in the crowd to a vote, which is held behind closed doors, as will the deputies later in the day after a second hearing before the finance committee of this chamber.
A certain vagueness had surrounded the succession of Eric Lombard at the beginning of December. It was not until his last day in office that a stop in the Official Journal announced that he would continue to assume his functions, but on an interim basis, “until the appointment of a new director general”, without further details.
