CEO Philippe Brassac new president of the FBF

The managing director of Crédit Agricole SA Philippe Brassac has taken over from the former boss of BPCE Laurent Mignon at the head of the French Banking Federation (FBF), the latter announced on Monday.

Mr. Brassac has succeeded Laurent Mignon as president of the French Banking Federation (FBF) since December 3, 2022, the federation said in a press release.

Its authorities were working on the replacement of Laurent Mignon, who took office on September 1, since the surprise announcement of his departure from the chairmanship of the BPCE management board two weeks later.

Mr. Mignon, now chairman of the investment company Wendel, has also left his place Nicolas Namias at the head of the BPCE group, bringing together in particular the Caisse d’Epargne and Banque Populaire networks, as well as the financing and investment bank Natixis .

The French banking lobby, the FBF has 334 member banking companies, including 115 foreign banks, according to its website.

Philippe Brassac has already been president of the FBF twice, for the period 2016-2017 and 2020-2021. His current term runs until the end of August 2023.

He will be assisted by the Chief Executive Officer of Socit Generale Frdric Ouda, Vice-Chairman, and the Chairman of the Management Board of La Banque Postale Philippe Heim, Treasurer.

And will find within the executive committee in addition to Nicolas Namias, Jean-Laurent Bonnaf and Nicolas Thry, respectively bosses of the BNP Paribas and Crdit Mutuel groups.
