At its press conference at CES in Las Vegas, Asus presented its first folding screen laptop. Featuring a 17.3-inch Oled display that folds onto itself, the ZenBook 17 Fold Oled is expected to be available in mid-2022.

Asus in turn launches a foldable screen laptop, modeled on the Lenovo X1 Fold released one year ago. However, Asus sees much bigger than its Chinese competitor, by unveiling a larger diagonal screen.

The ZenBook 17 Fold Oled has a 17.3-inch Oled touch screen capable of folding up on itself. With a definition of 2560 x 1920 px in 4/3 format, the panel covers 100% of the DCI-P3 spectrum.

Unfolded, you therefore have a 17.3-inch screen capable of standing alone thanks to its kickstand. Asus also provides a Bluetooth keyboard with a touchpad to transform the touch pad into a real laptop.

When folded, the ZenBook 17 Fold Oled has two 12.5-inch screens with a resolution of 1920 x 1280 px each in 3: 2 format. In this form, the keyboard can be placed in front of the screen or placed on the bottom screen, in order to use it like a traditional laptop PC. Possibilities similar to those offered by the Lenovo X1 Fold.

Asus equips its ZenBook 17 Fold Oled with the 12th generation Intel processor, known as AlderLake. Obviously, this is the low power version of the Core i7-1250U, which can be accompanied by 16 GB of DDR5 RAM and 1 TB of SSD storage. Connectivity is limited to two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a jack, while wifi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 are on board for wireless connectivity. The 75 Wh battery promises more than adequate autonomy, even if the manufacturer has not given an estimate.

In terms of measurements, in tablet mode, the ZenBook 17 Fold Oled measures 37.8 x 28.7 cm with a thickness of 8.7 mm and 11.7 mm with its kickstand. Once folded, the measurements go to 28.7 x 18.9 cm for a thickness varying from 17.4 mm to 31.9 mm depending on whether or not the keyboard is stored in the screen. On the scale, the ZenBook 17 Fold Oled weighs around 1.65 kg and the keyboard almost 300 g.

Asus remains vague on the actual availability of the ZenBook 17 Fold Oled, however, since the product could undergo improvements based on feedback by mid-2022, with the Computex show in Taiwan being held precisely on that date.
