CES 2022 – Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni, the robot mop with self-cleaning base

Ecovacs is constantly innovating in terms of suction and presented its new flagship, the Deebot X1 Omni. This robotic vacuum cleaner for floor mop has also won an innovation award at CES 2022. Just that!

Ecovacs continues to present new robot vacuum cleaners, each more ambitious than the next. After the Deebot T9 range unveiled in April 2021, the Chinese manufacturer returns with a product which, he writes in all modesty, “revolutionizes domestic cleaning ”, the Deebot X1 Omni.

This robot vacuum cleaner, designed by Bang & Olufsen, incorporates a camera allowing it to identify obstacles in its path and to avoid them, but it is also surmounted by a laser rangefinder. Thanks to the so-called AIVI 3D technology, this robot is able to identify and detect very specific objects (sock, cable, etc.), exactly as the Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI offers. It will then alert its owner directly to the Ecovacs application.

A voice command directly on the robot

But that is not the real innovation of this robot. The latter incorporates an artificial intelligence specific to Ecovacs called YIKO. It is more exactly a language processing technology (NLP) that allows the device to identify a voice and execute commands. Thus, the Deebot X1 Omni can respond directly to the requests of its user without having to go through another artificial intelligence (Google, Amazon or Apple).

As we have seen on the Yeedi Mop Station from the same manufacturer or, more recently, on the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, this vacuum cleaner comes with an automatic charging base incorporating two bins designed for mops. One receives clean water to clean the two pads and the second collects the used water after washing. As a result, the two pads will be automatically cleaned as soon as they return to the robot’s charging base: one less constraint for the user, who will no longer have to wash them systematically after each passage.

The two mops, precisely, do not only have the effect of passing superficially on the floor (as is the case on the Deebot N8 +, for example), but to really clean it. These two rotating pads perform up to 180 revolutions per minute while exerting a force towards the ground to remove the most stubborn stains, according to the manufacturer.

This high-end robot has of course a cost, it will be necessary to spend € 1,499 to get it (or € 100 more than the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra). It will be available from April 2022. Another model of this family, the Deebot X1 Plus, smaller and less rich in features, will be sold for € 1,099.
