General Motors may have canceled its visit to CES 2022, the American manufacturer has still presented new models that will expand its catalog of electric cars
by 2023.

Among them, the electric version of its best-selling pickup: the Chevrolet Silverado.

The Chevrolet Silverado EV on the road by 2024

The Chevrolet Silverado goes electric. At the Las Vegas show, General Motors announced two new configurations for its flagship pickup, dubbed Work Truck (WT) and Rally Sport Truck (RST). The first model is intended primarily for professionals. Billed for $ 39,000, it will go into production in the spring of 2023. The second is more in luxury and will cost the modest sum of $ 105,000. It will be produced at the end of 2023. However, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will not arrive on American roads before 2024. The manufacturer is already planning to launch other versions later at intermediate prices (between 50,000 and 80,000 dollars).

The Chevrolet Silverado EV will have an Ultium battery, the total capacity of which has not been specified. These electric pickups should be able to cover a distance of approximately 644 km on a full charge. An autonomy that is close to what is currently being done best. Fast charging will be possible with a power of 350 kW with direct current. What promise a gain of 160 km in just ten minutes of recharging. Not stingy with energy, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will even be able to charge another electric vehicle with a power of up to 10.2 kW.

A bucket that stretches

Technically, the RST will be more efficient with two electric motors for a total power of 673 horsepower for 1,057 Nm of torque. According to the American manufacturer, the passage to 100 km / h would be shot in 4.5 seconds by activating the Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode. This variation will be able to tow more than 4.5 tonnes, while its rear tipper will be able to support a maximum of 590 kilos of payload. Less powerful, the WT will offer 544 kilos of payload and will be able to tow around 3,629 tons.

In its RST version, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will also be equipped with a Multi-Flex feature, making it possible to increase the load volume of the body while maintaining a row of seats at the rear of the pick-up. The partition separating the body from the passenger compartment can then be modulated, or even completely lowered to reduce the storage space to 3 meters.
