Things promised, things due, would we be tempted to say: Intel has indeed taken advantage of CES in Las Vegas to lift the veil on its 12e generation of processors
Core for mobiles.

Up to 5 GHz in boost frequency on the most efficient of the range, Intel has therefore decided to replay the megahertz card on the occasion of CES 2022, which largely takes place at a distance for the American. Core i9-12900HK: 5 GHz

The “king of the hill” is logically this Core i9-12900HK. Obviously based on the hybrid side of the Alder Lake architecture, this monster has 14 cores (6 Golden Cove or high-performance cores, and 8 Gracemont or efficient cores) and 20 threads.

It has a third level cache of 24 MB and is based on a consumption known as ” basic “Of 45 W. More important for Intel, it is the first processor intended for portable machines to reach the threshold of 5 GHz, a frequency that Intel reserves however for the” max turbo frequency “.

The fastest of all?

Unfortunately, three times unfortunately, Intel did not see fit to present even a semblance of a price list. On the other hand, he underlined how much his new ” flagship Came to torpedo the previous generation. It is on average 28% faster than the Core i9-11980HK on video games and up to 43% faster for 3D rendering.

Of course, it will be necessary to verify this through the first tests of laptops using the new chip, but Intel took pleasure in comparing its new baby to the Ryzen 9 5900HX. As we can imagine, the graphics presented at the conference were to Intel’s advantage.

More interesting, although again to verify on parts, the Core i9-12900HK seems to be formidable in energy efficiency. A graph illustrating the evolution of performance according to the increase in power is, again, in favor of Intel … even if, on closer inspection, minimum consumption is not the founder’s strong point. .

A full range of 8 processors

Of course, the Core i9-12900HK won’t be the only processor in the Core H-Series, and Intel actually took advantage of CES to unveil a line-up of 8 processors that it subdivides as always into three categories. So there is the Core i9-12900HK and its twin brother, the Core i9-12900H. Only difference: the blocking of the multiplying coefficient on the second.

They are followed by three Core i7s. The Core i7-12800H and Core i7-12700H are very close with their 6 efficient cores, 8 efficient cores and 20 threads. They have 24 MB of L3 cache and differ only in the maximum frequencies: 4.8 GHz for the first, against 4.7 GHz for the second. The Core i7-12650H is more modest: it keeps the 6 efficient cores, but only 4 efficient cores and 16 threads. The cache remains the same (24 MB) as the maximum frequency (4.7 GHz).

Finally, the range is completed with a trio of Core i5s. The Core i5-12600H and Core i5-12500H seem strictly identical: 4 high performance cores, 8 efficient cores, 16 threads, 18MB L3 cache and 4.5 GHz for maximum frequency. The difference will undoubtedly be seen on the base frequencies. The Core i5-12450H brings up the rear with 4 powerful cores, 4 efficient cores, 12 threads, 12 MB of L3 cache and a maximum boost frequency further reduced, to 4.4 GHz.
