Samsung is presenting a concept of a folding screen laptop PC to promote its flexible Oled panels and show the way for potential interested partners. The Samsung Flex Note has a 17-inch Oled screen that folds up on itself to form two 13-inch screens.

The proportions are reminiscent of those of the ZenBook 17 Fold Oled announced at the beginning of last week. This model is equipped with a panel of similar size, with the difference that Asus worked with BOE, a Chinese manufacturer of Oled screens. And that the device seems much closer to marketing than the concept unveiled by Samsung.

For its part, the South Korean manufacturer demonstrates the feasibility of such a machine and, above all, highlights the capabilities of its foldable Oled screen resistant to 200,000 openings and equipped with a folding curvature of 1.4 mm.

Intel, a fervent ally of this kind of product, has just adapted its Evo certification to the folding screen laptop PC. He had also unveiled a similar product at CES 2020 with the Horseshoe Bend Concept, in partnership with Samsung and Microsoft. The Redmond firm had also presented the Surface Neo equipped with two screens and a central hinge, before throwing it into oblivion.

While the industry still seems to doubt the interest of foldable screen devices, Samsung with its Flex Note demonstrates its know-how and appeals to manufacturers eager to embark on the adventure with a convincing screen. It must be said that a year after the release of the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Fold, the manufacturers are not jostling at the gate.
