TP-Link announces the launch of 5 new home automation products compatible with Apple HomeKit in 2022 and its expansion to the United States.

During CES 2022, which took place from January 5 to 8, TP-Link announced a new range of products, including accessories compatible with Apple’s HomeKit smart home platform. It would be possible to control these objects with Siri, or with the Home App for Apple devices.

New TP-Link products scheduled for 2022

None of TP-Link’s Tapo brand products were compatible with Apple’s HomeKit… until this year. In Las Vegas, the company announced the expansion of its Tapo range from Europe to the United States, with the launch of new devices that now include Apple HomeKit.

As a reminder, during CES 2019, TP-Link had already announced that it would launch products compatible with HomeKit, in particular a smart plug, but had subsequently canceled the project.

Yet the promise was finally kept. The new range of Tapo HomeKit accessories is scheduled for 2022, starting with the P125 smart mini-plugs in the first quarter. This will be followed by the wall power strip, Tapo S500D dimmer and light strip in the second quarter, followed by the Tapo L535E color bulb towards the end of the year.

Other news announced?

TP-Link already markets its smart home accessories in the US market, under the Kasa brand, and will continue to do so in 2022. The Kasa range does not, however, provide support for HomeKit, according to a spokesperson for the company.

Other smart home devices were presented by TP-Link in Las Vegas, including four Cloud-connected Tapo security cameras. The first is scheduled for the first quarter of 2022. It is an outdoor camera with night vision and 2K resolution that can record to a micro SD card. However, the cameras will not be HomeKit compatible either.
