Displace took advantage of CES 2023 to present its wireless OLED TV model. The San Diego startup has been teasing its product for several weeks, and the first reactions are very positive.
The Displace TV stands out from the many new products presented at CES in Las Vegas. The 55-inch diagonal OLED connected TV presented by the Californian startup Displace is innovative in more ways than one. For starters, it works completely wireless. A living room, or an office, devoid of the slightest cable, is the dream of any technology lover, and the young company intends to make it a reality. The Displace TV runs on four removable batteries.
The TV weighs less than 9 kg. This almost featherweight allows it to be hung via suction cups on smooth surfaces. Note, however, that the examples of use revealed in the promotional videos show it systematically hanging from a window. In terms of autonomy, it is supposed to last for a month at the rate of six hours of viewing per day. In practice, it has four battery slots, which allows them to be changed as you go, without suffering a major interruption.
It is possible to combine up to 4 Displace TVs to obtain a diagonal of 110 inches
If the idea of enjoying a wireless screen is, a priori, attractive, a few questions come to mind: how to connect a game console or a Blu-Ray player to the Displace TV? To broadcast content on its TV, the company has chosen to take advantage of WiFi 6E technology, which makes it possible to enjoy theoretical speeds of up to 1.3 Gb/s. The Displace TV control box is powered by an AMD processor and an Nvidia GPU. It can manage up to 8 televisions simultaneously.
He is possible to assemble four Displace TVs, to obtain a diagonal of 280 centimeters in 8K definition. A camera placed on the top of the screen allows it to be controlled using gesture recognition. Inevitably, such a futuristic product will not be within the reach of all budgets. The Displace TV will be sold for $3,000 each. or $9,000 for four.
