Because there is no reason that the RDNA 3 architecture only concerns graphics cards machines desktop after all.
AMD’s third major announcement ahead of CES 2023 in Las Vegas, the porting of RDNA 3 GPUs to laptops was undoubtedly the least surprising, the most anticipated.
RX 7600M XT: exceed 100 Watts of TDP
In total, four mobile chips were presented by Lisa Su, CEO of AMD. First, we find the most powerful model in the range, the Radeon RX 7600M XT.
It is distinguished by its 32 compute unitsits 2,048 shader processors and its 8 GB of video memory at 18 Gbps. More importantly, it is distinguished above all by a significantly higher TDP than the rest of the range which will, of course, have an influence on performance.
This TDP is fixed between 75 and 120 Watts while AMD does not hesitate to compare the performances obtained with those of the GeForce RTX 3060 for desktop of its longtime competitor, NVIDIA.
7700S, 7600M and 7600S to complete the range
While the name of the next chip – the Radeon RX 7600M – sounds very close, it’s actually not the most similar, technically speaking. Indeed, this RX 7600M is limited to 28 compute units and 1,792 shader processors with video memory at 16 Gbps for a TDP of 50 to 90 Watts.
In contrast, the Radeon RX 7700S retains the 32 compute units and 2,048 shader processors of the flagship model as well as the 8 GB of memory at 18 Gbps, distinguished only by a lower TDP, between 75 and 100 Watts. Finally, to bring up the rear, the Radeon RX 7600S takes up the specificities of the 7600M with the exception of the TDP, further reduced between 50 and 75 Watts.
Note in passing that AMD took the opportunity to update the Radeon 6000 range with RDNA 2 references, but at a TDP between 50 and 80 Watts maximum. Finally, it should be noted that the first laptops equipped with Radeon 7000 should arrive in February.
