  • ROG is presenting its updated product portfolio at CES 2023.
  • There are new versions of laptops and monitors, but also a new router or a gaming chair.
  • The refresh rates of the monitors in particular are real eye-catchers.

With its Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand, Asus sells PCs, notebooks, smartphones and accessories that are explicitly aimed at gamers. At CES 2023, ROG is introducing many new notebooks and peripherals, including the first gaming monitor with a 540 Hertz refresh rate.

Swift Pro PG248QP: 540 Hertz monitor

The 24.1-inch monitor with Full HD resolution achieves the high frame rate with an E Sport TN panel. Apart from this technical innovation, the screen has a 60 percent faster response time than standard TN panels. The design should shine with a foldable stand. Audio options include ESS-DAC surround sound and footfall improvements.

ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM: More resolution, but still fast

This monitor would be for you if you don’t need to have such high refresh rates. With 240 Hertz and a response time of 0.3 seconds, it is still a very fast OLED monitor. The screen’s coating is designed to reduce reflections in difficult lighting conditions. With software, the settings can also be controlled with the mouse.

ROG Strix SCAR and Strix G Series: Notebooks for esports

The SCAR and Strix G series laptops are marketed primarily with esports enthusiasts in mind. They offer an 18-inch Nebular display with QHD resolution. An artificial intelligence filters out background noise, while the device is equipped with Dolby Atmos virtual surround. The battery has a capacity of 64 or 90 watt hours. WiFi 6, Dolby Vision HDR and Nvidia G-Sync are also on board.

The rest of the equipment depends on the model and the screen size. The SCAR models with 16-inch HDR display and 18-inch Nebula display get configurations up to a 13th generation Intel Core i9-13980HX processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU. The 17-inch version gets an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 processor.

Also all Strix G models come NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 graphics processor with Advanced Optimus technology.

ROG Zephyrus: Displays have been improved compared to the predecessor

The Zephyrus G and M laptops also differ depending on what screen size the devices have. ROG Zephyrus G14 (GA402) has a Nebula HDR Mini LED display with a QHD resolution and an aspect ratio of 16:10. In addition, HDR and 165 Hertz screen diagonal are included.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 offers an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 graphics processor with a maximum of 125 W TGP, a MUX switch and Nvidia Advanced Optimus, including liquid metal cooling.

The 16-inch variants instead rely on a 13th generation Intel processor and slightly different Geforce RTX 40 laptop graphics cards. All Zephyrus models have a 180-degree ErgoLift hinge, Dolby Atmos speakers and a camera that has different resolutions depending on the model.

ROG Flow X13 and X16: Gaming convertibles

The smaller 13-inch convertible gets a QHD Nebula display with a refresh rate of 16 Hertz. Paired with an AMD Ryzen 9 Zen 4 CPU and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 GPU, the touchscreen should also perform well in tablet mode. In addition, the device can be connected to the external XG Mobile GPU with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 GPU.

The larger 16-inch variant also comes with a touchscreen and stylus support. There is also a 13th generation Intel i9 processor instead of the AMD variant.

ROG Flow Z13: Gaming tablet

You can equip the ROG Flow Z13 with up to an Intel i9 processor and an RTX 40 series laptop GPU. The 13-inch tablet display is fitted with Corning’s Gorilla Glass. The aspect ratio is 16:10. The tablet has a detachable illuminated keyboard and the external graphics card can also be connected here.

Accessories for gamers

In addition to the mobile devices and monitors, there are also new peripherals. The gaming mouse is suitable for both hands and weighs only 54 grams. The newly introduced wireless keyboard has an OLED display with controls and supports macOS. ROG is also introducing an Xbox-certified tri-mode controller, the ROG G22CH small form factor desktop PC, the ROG Rapture GT-BE98 router with WiFi-7, and a gaming chair.

presentation and availability

According to the press release, all products will be presented at the virtual launch event. You can also try them out at The Venetian Expo from January 4th to January 7th. It is still unclear what prices Asus charges for the devices.
