CES 2023 – Lock, video doorbell, sensor and LED tape: Aqara expands its range of connected products

The world of connected objects has been in turmoil since the announcement of the arrival of the first official version of Matter, a new standard for the connected home. This is also the case at Aqara which communicates on the future update of its old products and also announces the arrival of new models.

These are four references that will enrich its catalog in the coming months, including the Aqara G4 video doorbell. It can be powered by battery or continuously via a cable. Matter compatible, it will also support HomeKit Secure Video and local streaming on screen assistants from Amazon and Google.

In terms of functionality and storage, the G4 video doorbell will be equipped with facial recognition and will be able to store images both locally on a microSD card and in the cloud. The user will be able to benefit from it free of charge and find the recordings there for seven days.

The presence sensor has been baptized FP2 and operates using millimeter wave radar technology. This allows it to detect the presence of people, even motionless. It will support zone monitoring, integrate a light sensor and can even detect a fall.

A connected lock will also be offered for sale. The Aqara U100 will be compatible with HomeKit and will also have a place in the house keys category in the Maps application on iOS. Matter compatible only via a Hub, the U100 lock will also be unlocked using codes, fingerprints, NFC cards and of course via the brand’s application.

Finally, the T1 Led strip is a luminous strip connected in Zigbee and capable of varying its 16 million colors with gradient effects. It can be supported by HomeKit, Alexa and Google Home and again a Hub will be required for Matter compatibility.

No specific date or price has yet been revealed, but Aqara indicates availability to come in the coming months. The old products are not forgotten even if we know that the manufacturer has taken a little delay. The first to be updated will be the M2 Hub, which serves as the Matter gateway. Even if the brand is not present at CES 2023, which runs until January 8, some of their products will be present on the Google and Samsung stands.
