As every year on the occasion of the CES, JBL presents many novelties in terms of true wireless. In addition to a slightly more official highlight ambitious Tour Pro 2 announced in Septemberthe brand has especially unveiled 7 new products.
JBL has thus updated its Tune range through three new pairs and its entry-level Vibe, again with three new products. In addition, the Endurance Peak 3 strengthens the sports range of the manufacturer.
JBL Tune: Bluetooth 5.3 and Multipoint
Sort of mid-range, the Tune series incorporates some rather interesting modern functions at this price level. Thus, the Tune Buds, Tune Beam and Tune Flex all incorporate a Bluetooth 5.3 chip (probably LE Audio compatible), an active noise reduction system and a multipoint connection. The three devices will normally be offered at 99.99 euros.
The JBL Tune Buds feature a classic, stemless design with a 10mm transducer and IP54 certification (dust and splash water resistance). Autonomy is announced at 12 hours (without ANC) on a single charge and at 48 hours with the case. Nothing revolutionary therefore, but undoubtedly a good answer to the Chinese equivalents of the FreeBuds 5i type.
Closer to an Airpods Pro design, the Tune Beam adopt a short stem and rely on a smaller 6mm transducer. The rest is the same, since the autonomy remains 12 hours on a single charge and 48 hours with the case. They also have IP54 certification.
A little stranger, the Tune Flex adopt a visibly open Airpods format, which seems not very compatible with an ANC. They have a 12 mm transducer and display a slightly more classic IPX4 certification. Autonomy is significantly reduced and goes to 8 hours on a single charge and 32 hours with its case. On the other hand, you will have to be very patient, since this range will not be available until June 2023.
JBL Vibe: bass and simplicity
No need to look for technological marvels, the Vibe range is intended for a public in love with low frequencies and low prices. This series is built on the same stylistic scheme as the Tune series, with a stemless model at 49.99 euros, the Vibe Buds; a short stem model at 49.99 euros, the Vibe Beam; and an open Airpods-style model at 69.99 euros, the Vibe Flex.
Here, no noise reduction or multipoint connection, the only real technical advantage of the headphones is IP54 certification and an autonomy of 8 hours on a single charge. The Vibe Buds and Vibe Beam incorporate an 8 mm dynamic transducer, compared to 12 for the Vibe Flex. The latter, by their more open architecture, compensate for the possible loss in the low end of the spectrum by a wider membrane.
JBL Endurance Peak 3: ultra-sporty
Successors of the Peak 2, the Endurance Peak 3 are true wireless of the adventurer sports genre. Presented in an imposing charging box, they adopt an over-the-ear design that allows them to stay in place better as well as total resistance to the elements (IP68).
They benefit from a very comfortable autonomy, increased to 10 hours on a single charge and up to 50 hours with the case. Although not incorporating active noise reduction, they display an Ambient Aware mode (sound feedback). These Endurance Peak 3 will be available in February for 99.99 euros.
