CES 2023 – Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti: €899 to play at more than 120 fps in 1440p

After the luxurious GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080, Nvidia is finally releasing its series of Ada Lovelace graphics cards below the symbolic bar of 1000 €. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, equipped with an AD104 chip of 35.8 billion transistors still engraved in 5 nm via TSMC’s N4 process, will be launched at the recommended retail price of €899 on January 5. Although more accessible than the rest of the series, this price is higher than that of the GeForce RTX 3080 when it was released, which was €719.

Still, at this price, we are in the presence of a chip equipped with 7680 calculation units (CUDA), 240 units dedicated to AI (Tensor) and 60 units dedicated to raytracing (RT). The operating frequency would reach 2610 MHz on average. The memory part consists of 12 GB of GDDR6X operating on a 192-bit bus, enough to ensure a bandwidth of 504 GB/s. The set would display a power consumption of 285 watts, but Nvidia announces actual operation of between 150 and 240 watts depending on the game and the definition used.

Based on these technical characteristics, we can expect performance identical to or even superior to that of the GeForce RTX 3090 in its target definition of 1440p. A serious competitor to AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XT, sold for its part above the 1000 € mark. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti also retains the various characteristics inherent in the series such as the dual AV1 compatible video encoder, support for DLSS 3 or even the use of specific new generation units. It should be noted that no reference model (Founder’s Edition) is on the program: only partner models will be offered for sale. We will publish the full test of this model in the coming days.
