CES 2023 – Samsung unveils ultrathin QD-Oled TV with One Connect box

In terms of display quality, the Samsung S95C is a QD-Oled TV close to the S95B we tested last year. We find infinite contrast thanks to OLED technology, more saturated colors thanks to the quantum dot filter (Quantum Dot), instantaneous response time or even a high peak of brightness allowing a beautiful HDR image to be displayed. The only new features in terms of the display: compatibility with the 144 Hz frequency, interesting for PC gamers, and probably a peak in brightness revised upwards since we are talking about 2000 cd/m2 for the 77-inch model compared to 1000 currently for the 55- and 65-inch models released in 2022. This model stands out above all for its ultra-thin design and the use of the Slim One Connect box already seen on the Neo Qled QE65QN95B television.

This box makes it possible to completely deport the connectors and the power supply. It can be placed on the back of the stand behind the TV or offset in the TV stand. A single cable carries both power and the video signal. It’s a small feat in terms of integration, which greatly facilitates the installation of the TV on the wall. The cable remains quite thick, but the integration is much simpler. In addition, even on its foot, the television is impressively thin (only 0.8 cm).

The Samsung S95C television will be available in 55, 65 and 77 inch versions. It should logically be more expensive than the S95B and will thus compete with LG’s G range. The 55-inch will likely retail for between $2,500 and $3,000, while the 65-inch is expected to trade for between $3,500 and $4,000 upon release. The price of the 77-inch model is unknown, but should also play in the court of the LG 77G3 (around 5000 to 6000 €). Samsung will also market the QD Oled S90C television which will be identical to this year’s S95B with the addition of support for a frequency of 144 Hz. These new models should be available during the month of March 2023, or even April at the latest. Like every year, there should be nice discounts on the S95B side in order to sell off stocks.
