Merge Oled and E-Ink in the same PC?

On the one hand, this screen is quite classic with a 13.3-inch 2.8K Oled panel. However, it is mounted on a rotating hinge, and once rotated… we discover a second screen on the back, composed of an E-Ink slab which can therefore be used as a reading light. Lenovo had already introduced such a screen in the lid of its ThinkBook before, but much smaller and hingeless. We take advantage here of a 12-inch screen – the thick borders somewhat nibbling the original 13.3 inches – and we can therefore take notes or read content with a panel that is close to the paper rendering.

A useful PC, but probably not for everyone

If this computer may seem eccentric, it could well appeal to users looking for a certain versatility in their use and spending a lot of time reading. This type of screen is from this perspective much more pleasant than IPS or Oled panels, which can hurt the eyes in the long run, and taking “ink” notes could satisfy those nostalgic for the pen. Here, Lenovo has opted for a color E-Ink model, something quite rare, but which obviously leaves more possibilities than simple black and white. Another advantage, using only this screen – on the move for example – the autonomy should be much higher than on a standard screen, but difficult to assess this without testing.

For the technical part, the ThinkBook Plus Twist embeds the most classic components: 13th gen Intel processor, 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of SSD. A niche PC more aimed at professionals, which should be released in June 2023 at a starting price of €1,700 (excluding taxes).
