In 2022, the CES still had to cope with many prominent cancellations due to the corona pandemic. For example, Audi, Amazon, Google, General Motors, Intel, Meta, T-Mobile, TikTok and Twitter stayed away from the Las Vegas trade fair. In 2023, however, the halls of the Convention Center and the adjacent hotels will be well filled again.

For you, this means that there are all sorts of exciting new technologies to discover. But what can you expect from CES? Let’s start with bad news. There will probably not be any new mobile phones on display in Las Vegas – at least not from industry giants such as Samsung, Xiaomi or Google.

Don’t expect a OnePlus 11 or Galaxy S23

CES was never a fair for smartphone fans. Due to the proximity to the Mobile World Congress at the end of February in Barcelona, ​​most manufacturers refrain from presenting new mobile phones in the Nevada desert.

There have been exceptions in recent years: for example, the OnePlus 10 Pro made its debut here in 2022. The successor OnePlus 11 will now be unveiled again in early January, but not at CES, but in China.

Nevertheless, a look at the fair is also worthwhile for smartphone fans. Because apart from the really big players, there are still interesting things to discover: The LG subsidiary LG Innotek wants to present a camera module for smartphones that enables a variable zoom without having to make compromises in the design of the cell phone. Keyword: “camera bump”.

In addition, there could be one or the other mid-range cell phone or a novelty from a smaller manufacturer.

Instead, there will be new products from the areas of PC and PC hardware. So not only well-known manufacturers like Dell, HP or Lenovo are present at the CES, but also the big suppliers like AMD, Nvidia or Intel.

Nvidia will be holding an event called “GeForce Beyond” on January 3 in advance of CES in Las Vegas. The manufacturer could present the new graphics card RTX 4070 Ti there, among other things. It is rumored that it will go on sale as early as January 5th.

Intel will probably bring cheaper Raptor Lake chips

Intel also has new chips in its luggage. After the presentation of the high-end Pentium processors of the 13th generation, also known as Raptor Lake, at the end of October 2022, further variants for the mass market could follow at CES. Competitor AMD, on the other hand, also wants to expand the Ryzen 7000 series with new model variants.

We assume that various manufacturers in Las Vegas will be offering suitable notebooks and PCs based on the new chipsets at the same time. But there is probably one exception: Samsung. According to rumors, the new Galaxy Book models will only be presented in February together with the Galaxy S23.

Samsung, on the other hand, is likely to focus on household appliances and smart TVs at CES. For example, the manufacturer has already announced the launch of a refrigerator with a 32-inch display. Household appliances are also very popular with competitor LG. In Las Vegas, for example, we will probably see what is probably the most beautiful air conditioning system in the world.

Both South Korean manufacturers and Sony are also expected to present their TV line-up for 2023. In the TV sector, however, a hitherto relatively unknown manufacturer wants to cause a stir at CES. The Displace company promises us a television that does not require a power cable.
