CES 2024 – At Eureka, the washing machine serves as the basis for the robot vacuum cleaner

In household appliances, two-in-one appliances are legion: washer-dryer, vacuum cleaner-floor cleaner, cooker with hob and oven… Three-in-ones are a little rarer, even if we came across a cooker equipped with a dishwasher at Candy, the Duo 609 floor cleaner robot vacuum cleaner, with its automatic emptying base.

If, at first glance, the combination of these three products does not go without saying, the presence of a water distribution and evacuation system necessary for the proper functioning of a washing machine explains the presence of the cleaner. ground. Indeed, this product also works with water. It can therefore be replenished with clear water by returning to its base and discharge the dirty liquid via the washing machine drain pipe, which avoids storing a brackish liquid likely to become a real breeding ground for bacteria.

Obviously, the base of the robot raises the washing machine, the height of which is greater than that of a conventional appliance. However, the manufacturer promises that the required width and depth remain the same: 60 cm. We should therefore be able to install the Dual Washing Bot wherever it is possible to place a traditional washing machine.

Very little information has filtered out about the technical characteristics of the Dual Washing Bot. For example, we don’t know the maximum capacity of the washing machine or the highest spin speed. However, a dry wash program, probably modeled on what some rapid cycles using water vapor offer, has been mentioned. On the dryer side, the Dual Washing Bot must have a drying program whose temperature does not exceed 42°C, we are promised; an ideal way to preserve delicate textiles.

The floor mopping robot will take full advantage of the water inflows and outflows not only to fill and empty its tanks, but also to clean the two rotating mops with which it is equipped. Hot water could be used to improve the result by sterilizing the discs. Still regarding maintenance, an innovative system that could be compared to electric clipper blades must cut hair and long hairs so that they do not get tangled in the rotating brush. Of course, Eureka plans a sophisticated navigation system capable of avoiding obstacles; the small appendage on the top of the bodywork, however, suggests the presence of a laser, lidar or radar range finder.

For the moment, the Dual Washing Bot is just a concept that will benefit from a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The price and availability are therefore still unknown.
