Since the release of the Steam Deck, several portable consoles adopting the same philosophy have appeared. CES 2024 was an opportunity to discover new ones like the MSI Claw or the Ayaneo Next Lite, which presents an advantageous quality/price ratio. No SteamOS available for the latter, but the HoloISO operating system, a reproduction of the Valve ecosystem.

The Next Lite does not box in the same category as a Steam Deck but presents itself as a powerful and adorable portable console. In terms of characteristics, the firm announces an 800p screen, a 47 Wh battery and 16 GB RAM. On the processor side, Ayaneo has opted for a Ryzen 7 4500U or 4800U.
The Next Lite has three USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, an NVMe M.2 2280 SSD slot, a copper heat pipe cooling system and Hall effect joysticks. In addition to the HoloISO operating system, an ersatz of SteamOS, it is possible to use Windows using drivers found on the brand’s website. This ecosystem has the advantage of allowing access to a wider range of online stores (Epic Games Store, GOG, Ubisoft Connect, etc.).
Launching February 10 for $299
Given its characteristics behind an MSI Claw, a Steam Deck or the Asus ROG Ally, the Next Lite has a lower price. Ayaneo’s portable console will launch on February 10, 2024 at $299.
