CES 2024 – Bespoke Jet Bot Combo: Samsung innovates with new washing technology on its robot vacuum cleaner

Very expensive, unable to get on carpets, not as intelligent as hoped… Samsung’s latest robot vacuum cleaner greatly disappointed us, but the Korean giant clearly hasn’t said its last word. He will present a new model at CES, and this one is promising to say the least. It brings a new functionality to the market which could significantly improve washing performance, so much so that Samsung cannot resist the urge to communicate about it ahead of the show.

Steam to wash the floor, or almost

This new robot is the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo and it will have the particularity of offering a “steam” floor washing function. In any case, this is how Samsung presents it. In reality, the robot would not be able to generate steam itself — the function would undoubtedly consume too much energy. It is his station which will generate steam. The idea is then to take advantage of this to moisten and above all heat the robot’s mop, or more precisely its mops. Samsung has in fact opted for rotating pads, similar to those found for example on the Dreame L20 Ultra, or on the Deebot X2 Omni. Regardless, the steam should never touch the ground.

The problem with this system is obviously that the skates may not stay warm for very long, and this is obviously what should allow them to be more effective. Samsung has therefore evolved its object recognition technology (AI Object Recognition) so that the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo can also identify stains and dirt on the ground. When he comes across one, he must then remember his position, return to his station to take a steam bath, and come back to clean. By also driving its skates at high speed (170 revolutions per minute), the robot would, according to Samsung, be able to overcome even the most stubborn stains. We are obviously just asking to be convinced.

A unique washing system

If we can be concerned about the impact of these potential numerous round trips on autonomy, the system is in any case interesting. The Bespoke Jet Bot Combo will certainly not be the only robot whose station can heat water – we already know the Deebot X2 and L20 from Ecovacs – but it should definitely be the first to use it to wash the floor and not just to wash and disinfect your mops. The steam will also be used for automatic washing at home, and Samsung adds that its new robot will also be capable of detecting carpets, but also of estimating their thickness to, as desired, raise its mops or remove them. leave them in the station and thus avoid getting them wet.

Of course, the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo shouldn’t just wash floors, but its vacuum system should be much more classic. In any case, Samsung has not considered it as urgent to talk too much about it for the moment. He just mentions the possibility of detecting surfaces to adjust the power, and increase it in particular on carpets; a common feature today. It must be said that the robot is currently still in development, but we can bet that we will still be able to learn more during Samsung’s CES conference. It will be held on January 8.
