The CES will, without a doubt, be an important show this year for monitors. Atypical concepts and products certainly await us there, but it is also an opportunity for manufacturers to present their new products.

This is the case with Dell which has just unveiled two new curved monitors in its UltraSharp range: the U4025QW, a 5K Ultrawide screen in 21:9 format capable of recharging a laptop without problem thanks to ThunderBolt 4, up to 140 W, and the U3425WE, a 34-inch PC monitor.

UltraSharp U4025QW: wide format and ThunderBolt 4

Dell is renewing its range starting with two monitors mainly dedicated to productivity and content creation. First, the UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor (U4025QW), that’s its nickname, succeeds the U4021QW launched in 2021.

Clearly aimed at Apple users, this model offers a larger and wider format than what the Apple brand’s catalog offers. It is distinguished by its 40-inch IPS Black panel (like that of the Dell UltraSharp U2723QE), slightly curved, for 5K Ultrawide definition, i.e. 5,120 x 2,160 pixels in 21:9 format. The screen would offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a native contrast of 2000:1, extensive colorimetric coverage (99% of DCI-P3), as well as VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification.

Above all, the screen has a real hub which notably includes a ThunderBolt 4 connection capable of providing 140 W of power, ideal for powering and recharging the majority of laptops, including a MacBook Pro. In addition, the screen’s technical sheet mentions support for variable refresh rate (VRR), as well as the presence of two HDMI 2.1 ports. This would therefore make it a fairly comfortable screen for gaming, as long as the response times of the IPS panel remain quite low. There will also be USB-C and USB-A ports, DisplayPort 1.4, and even 2.5G Ethernet.

Availability in the coming weeks?

The UltraSharp U4025QW is accompanied by the U3425WE. Also equipped with an IPS Black panel, it displays a definition of 3440 x 1440 pixels and will also offer ThunderBolt 4, however limited to a power of 90W. Its technical sheet, still incomplete, does not mention HDR or VRR support.

However, we know that the two monitors will be available quickly, perhaps in the United States first and then in Europe. The UltraSharp U4025QW and U3425WE are expected to hit the market starting February 27 at prices of $2,399.99 and $1,019.99, respectively.
