In addition to the Accentum Plus and the Momentum Sport, Sennheiser has unveiled the Momentum True Wireless 4, a pair of headphones which brings together all the know-how of the German group. Designed in partnership with Qualcomm, they include many features specific to the American chip designer’s ecosystem.

Bluetooth 5.4 and Qualcomm at the controls

The Momentum True Wireless 4 benefit from the Qualcomm S5 Sound Gen 2 software and hardware suite and are thus compatible with technologies induced by the Snapdragon Sound platform such as the aptX Lossless Bluetooth codec, which promises lossless playback, or even Qualcomm RF technology Front End, which promises to improve the sensitivity of the antennas and therefore lower latency, reduce distortion concerns and increase signal stability.

All this is very nice, but the Snapdragon Sound platform is specific to the Qualcomm ecosystem and therefore is not present on the majority of smartphones/tablets like Apple’s iPhone, Google’s Pixel or Samsung’s Galaxy. .

The Momentum True Wireless 4 are the first headphones on the market to support the new version of Bluetooth, namely 5.4. In addition to being compatible with the new LC3 codec, the Momentum True Wireless 4 should offer better range and increased stability while receiving more information. Sennheiser also promises the launch of the Auracast function which allows you to share a Bluetooth stream between several devices simultaneously. A bit like what Apple is already doing with its AirPods.

Already particularly efficient, the Momentum True Wireless 3 received a 5-star rating when they passed through our labs. Unless you get tripped up, the Momentum True Wireless 4 has every chance of joining them at the top of the bill. With six microphones distributed across the two earphones, Sennheiser promises improved voice pickup and more effective noise reduction. However, no information has been provided regarding a potential change in sound performance.

The Momentum True Wireless 4 promise a battery life of 7 hours 30 minutes per charge, or an hour more than the model 3. The battery life increases to 30 hours with the case and the headphones recover 1 hour of charge in just 8 minutes. Sennheiser claims to have optimized the performance of the battery to obtain a prolonged lifespan.

Although the headphones retain their design, the tips have however been revised to provide better protection against earwax in order to limit occlusion of the speakers.

The Momentum True Wireless 4 will be available next February at a price of €299.90.
