The Claw is made official at the very beginning of CES 2024 : first portable console from MSI, it also marks the arrival of Intel in this segment.

The secret was rather well kept for weeks, but when it was time to heat things up, MSI’s communication stalled, just a few hours after the teaser was posted online.

In the wake of this publication, we heard of various rumors regarding the characteristics of the portable console and, in particular, the partnership with Intel.

Format and dimensions… rather classic

Today, as CES 2024 in Las Vegas is just opening its doors, MSI is happy to be able to make its console official. Its name is therefore the Claw with, however, a small suffix, A1M, a sign that MSI is not refraining from giving it offspring.

The Claw adopts a rather classic shape in the world of portable consoles, very long. It measures 294 x 117 x 21.2 millimeters and its weight is 675 grams if we are to believe the technical sheet distributed by MSI. A technical sheet which, however, does not discuss the price or the release date of this machine.

In its press release, MSI also does not return to this information which seems to us to be crucial. Odd.

At the heart, a Core Ultra 7 155H from Intel

On the other hand, MSI is taking advantage of the officialization of the machine to confirm its partnership with Intel: it is indeed a Meteor Lake processor, a Core Ultra 7 155H, to be precise, which is used here.

Without going into too much detail, MSI emphasizes that Intel’s XeSS technology is one of the strengths of its machine. Indeed, thanks to its 16 CPU cores, but also and above all its 8 GPU cores (Xe-Cores), the Core Ultra 7 155H is fully capable of supporting XeSS technology, Intel’s competitor to NVIDIA’s DLSS.

MSI also insists on the presence of its in-house Cooler Boost Hyperflow cooling technology which “ helps direct airflow to internal components and ensure optimal gaming performance “. The brand has opted for a 6-cell 53 Whr battery for a stated autonomy of “ 2 hours under extreme playing conditions “.

For the rest, MSI has been relatively wise with a 7-inch screen in IPS panel 1080p @ 120 Hz. We are talking about 16 GB of RAM in LPDDR5 and, more regrettably, an SSD in format 2230… whose capacity we do not know. Finally, note that Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 will be on the menu of a machine for which we are only waiting for the price and release date.
