During CES in Las Vegas, manufacturers do not hesitate to push innovative concepts and LG hit hard this year. Alongside the C4, M4 and G4 televisions that we told you about a few days ago, LG has unveiled a product that is clearly off the beaten track. Its Signature Oled T is a transparent model which offers a unique design which could bode well for the future interior of our homes.

Unique design and integration

This is certainly not the first time that we can see a transparent screen, but until then they were rather dedicated to the professional market. Here, LG presented a real 77-inch television, with a version derived from WebOS, its TV interface present in all its ranges. We can also use other new interfaces in order to benefit from a more decorative display with an aquarium for example or information changing depending on the weather.

WebOS is obviously there.

WebOS is obviously there.

We are talking about an Oled screen and all the characteristics that make them strong, in particular very deep blacks and infinite contrast. A black “curtain” can thus be raised or lowered during viewing to remain in transparent mode or “classic” TV mode. However, the Signature Oled T does not have an MLA panel like other G and M series TVs and the brightness will therefore be more limited. According to LG, you can expect the visual performance of a C-series TV, which is already excellent.

If the design is not final, the television was presented in a format framed by shelves. The electronic part is located under the TV with in particular an audio system directed downwards. Everything else is remote in a wireless box, similar to what we find on the LG M3 or the M4 which has just been announced.

This type of transparent screen could in any case shake up the codes of current televisions and satisfy users who do not necessarily want a black screen in the middle of the living room. For the moment, we have no details on a possible release date, or even on the price, but we must expect a very hefty bill, probably several tens of thousands of euros…
