Between productivity and entertainment, the line is sometimes thin. Banking on the rise of teleworking, LG is launching a new series ofPC screens called intelligent. Named MyView, these monitors will integrate the WebOS interface found on brand televisions and 4K UHD IPS panels for combined image quality and functionality.
MyView monitors will be demonstrated in more detail to the public at CES 2024 in Las Vegas from January 9-12.
An interface for entertainment and work
With MyView, LG is releasing a series of screens equipped with their own operating system and which can therefore be used without the need to connect the monitor to a PC. Others have already entered this market, notably Samsung with its Smart Monitor M8, or even with hybrid products like the Huawei MateView and its very popular 3:2 format.
Powered by WebOS 23, a well-known interface in particular as it equips LG televisions, MyView screens integrate a wide range of features and connectivity options.
The user will thus be able to access a large catalog of applications, which obviously includes the most popular streaming services (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, etc.), but also productivity tools such as Google Calendar and Microsoft 365. In addition, MyView includes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, for connecting to devices and the internet. The Apple AirPlay 2 and Miracast protocols are also included to take advantage of mirroring a smartphone or other compatible devices. Finally, it is also possible to pair a removable Full HD webcam to the MyView screens.
4K UHD IPS panels for 31.5 inches
The technical sheets for these three MyView screens suggest that image quality has not been neglected by LG. All three feature IPS panels, they display 4K UHD definition (3840 x 2160 pixels), support HDR10 signals and cover 95% of the DCI-P3 space.
The differences between the three monitors are clearly visible in the image above: the LG 32SR85U has more efficient USB-C charging power (90W) and should come with the detachable camera. It will nevertheless be sold separately with the 32SR83U, and does not seem compatible with the 32SR70U. Finally, the latter appears a little less bright and will therefore be less efficient with HDR content.
Regarding the availability of this new range of monitors, as well as their prices, we will probably have to wait until CES 2024 to learn more.
