  • Dell presented new Alienware notebooks at CES.
  • The models X15 and X17 are brought up to date.
  • The innovations will still be available in the online configurator in winter.

Dell introduced innovations to a number of Alienware gaming notebooks at CES. This also includes the notebooks of the X series, which stand out due to their particularly narrow profile. Updates to the latest hardware will be available for these models shortly.

Specifically, it is the Alienware X15 and the X17. They will be configurable with the latest processors from Intel as well as the latest standards in terms of memory and graphics cards. Windows 11 will of course also be preinstalled from the factory.

Alienware relies on Intel processors

Under the new generation designations X15 R2 and X17 R2, customers can choose between the top processors Intel Core i7 12700H and i9 12900H. AMD processors are not available for selection. In line with this, the type of RAM is updated from DDR4 to DDR5. You can choose between 16 and 32 gigabytes.

In the future, customers will be able to choose significantly more internal storage. There is a choice of up to 2 terabytes over a single SSD or up to 4 terabytes over two SSDs. With a gaming laptop you can not only play, but also stream or work. Dell is therefore optimizing the integrated webcam for HD and the displays with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision.

The notebooks are equipped with a versatile cooling solution so that the X15 and X17 do not “die in heat” with all their performance in the hottest battle. The inside of the case offers massive “Cryo-Tech” cooling technology, which dissipates heat via fans and ventilation grids. How it behaves with the noise development remains to be seen.

Price and availability

So far, no official prices have been announced. However, an X15 notebook can currently cost up to around 3,600 euros and the X17 up to 4,100 euros, depending on the configuration. There is no reason to believe that the new models will get cheaper. The current winter is currently given as the publication date.

If the X15 R2 and X17 R2 seem too big to you, you should take a look at the compact Alienware X14 R2. In the future, this will offer high-performance technology for gamers in the smallest of spaces. In addition, the Alienware M series notebooks have also been redesigned.
