Chad: the head of the junta took off for Doha before the signing of a peace agreement with the rebels

The leader of the junta in Chad, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, flew to Doha on Friday (August 5th), ahead of the scheduled signing of a peace agreement with rebels on Monday, according to the official website of the Chadian presidency.

His plane took off from the airport in the capital N’Djamena around 12:30 GMT, noted an AFP journalist. Talks between the government and armed groups began in March, after several postponements, to end decades of unrest and instability in the country of 16 million people.
