Transformed, Kendji Girac takes his first steps as an actor, in a new original fiction from TF1, entitled “Champion”, in which he plays a role that is very close to his heart.
Decidedly, Kendji Girac has all the talents: singer, musician, juror in The Voice Kids, here he is as an actor, for a first major role in the TF1 back-to-school series, whose trailer has been unveiled during the first match of the French women’s football team. He embodies the character of Zack, a carpenter passionate about boxing who hides a real difficulty: illiteracy.
Kendji Girac: “to put yourself in the character of Zack, you had to do things to the end”
And for this great first in a fiction, the singer had to agree to do some physical concessions, as he explained to our colleagues from Télé Loisirs. “Don’t talk to me about it! That’s what was the most complicated for this shoot: agreeing to let my hair and beard grow! did he declare, but to get into the character of Zack, you had to go all the way. Basically, I shave every morning. JI can’t stand going out unshaven. My mother also made me big eyes discovering me with this look. After the shoot, I’m going to take a day to shave, cut my hair and dress my way again.”
The fiction, which will be broadcast at the start of the school year on the first channel, is a real challenge for Kendji Girac, for whom the subject addressed is extremely important. “I went to school, but with my gypsy family, we were going on a trip from April, he confided to Télé-Loisirs, We crossed all of France to go see the cousins. It was our priority. I did this all my schooling. We also started back to school later. So I was quite behind the other students. Then I stopped studying at 14 to work with my father.” before continuing “When I participated in The Voice, I had trouble reading the lyrics of the songs on the teleprompters that were scrolling too quickly. It slowed me down a bit. I was not comfortable with that. So I put myself in the place of someone who can’t read at all, it’s horrible”. All that remains is to wait patiently for the start of the school year to see Kendji Girac embody this “Champion” that everyone is eager to discover.
