After four of six preliminary round games in their group, the ZSC Lions have been confirmed as a knockout round in the Champions Hockey League. The people of Zurich beat the Hungarian representative Fehervar 5-1 “at home” in Dübendorf. Swede Lucas Wallmark shone for the Lions against the guests coached by former Ambri coach Kevin Constantine with the first two goals and a total of three scorer points. Returnee Jérôme Bachofner made it 3-1 before the Lions scored twice into an empty goal as an encore. Sven Andrighetto and Frenchman Alexandre Texier were the last two ZSC scorers.

Train – TPS Turku 6:1

Zug came against Turku for the fourth success in the fourth group game of the Champions Hockey League. This means that the Central Swiss are now at least second in Group B and also safe in the round of 16. Six different players were successful for EVZ. The hosts convinced against the top Finnish team across the board. Goalie Luca Hollenstein was only three minutes short of a shutout. Fabrice Herzog, Brian O’Neill and Grégory Hofmann had gone from 3-0 to 6-0 in just under three and a half minutes.

Tappara Tampere – Rapperswil-Jona Lakers 2: 3 a.e.t

Just under a minute and a half before the end of extra time, Jordan Schroeder secured the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers prestige success in Tampere on a power play. The American new signing scored a pass from Roman Cervenka to score the acclaimed winner against the 17-time Finnish champions. Tampere had turned back from a 1-0 deficit in the final period before Nando Eggenberger saved the Lakers with a goal in the 59th minute. Cervenka, who, like Schroeder, scored two points, opened the scoring after a goalless third in the 27th minute. Despite the first win in the Champions Hockey League, the Lakers have no chance of progressing.
