All three Swiss representatives celebrate victories in the Champions Hockey League on Wednesday evening.

Five games, five wins: EV Zug continues its successful European campaign. Against the still pointless Olimpija Ljubljana (SLO), the Swiss champions achieved a sovereign 3:1 victory.

Already in the first third, the people of Zug set the course for victory. Dario Simion (8th) with a remarkable solo and Brian O’Neill (20th) scored the goals for the lead. In the middle third, the American decided the game with his second goal (33rd). The hosts got a consolation goal through Tadej Climzar with 10 minutes remaining, but that was all it took. With this, the people of Zug secured the group victory ahead of time.

Freiburg wins the group

Fribourg-Gottéron were relaxed as they entered the penultimate game of the group stage, thanks to Ilves Tampere’s win over Stavanger on Tuesday night. In the away game in Salzburg, it was all about winning the group for Freiburg.

Freiburg secured this in a game without any major highlights. When it was 1-0, the Finn Janne Kuokkanen (34th) was the only goal scorer. Thanks to a focused and disciplined performance, Fribourg-Gottéron kept a clean sheet in the Champions Hockey League for the third time in a row.

Rapperswil-Jona also victorious

In the duel between the teams that have already been eliminated from Group C, the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers won 6:4 away at Slovan Bratislava. After a supposedly comfortable 4:1 and 5:2 lead, Rapperswil had to tremble again in the final third after the Slovakians came up to 4:5 two minutes before the end. An empty netter from Tyler Moy finally decided the game definitively.

The Lakers celebrate their first win in the Champions Hockey League after 60 minutes, while their opponent Bratislava remains without a point.
