Two weeks after its inaugural victory against Sturm Graz (2-1), Brest largely won on Tuesday on the pitch of RB Salzburg (4-0), for the second day of the Champions League. These two successes against Austrian clubs allow the Bretons to virtually take the lead in the ranking.

Thunder from Brest! For the second match in their history in the Champions League, the first away, the Brestois outclassed the Austrians RB Salzburg on their own lawn, Tuesday evening (4-0). The Bretons took the advantage in the first half, before registering three new goals after the break.

A second prolific period

The Finisterians had however suffered at the start of the match, saved by video assistance from an opening score. On the wings, Oscar Gloukh and Amar Dedic martyred Kenny Lala and Massadio Haïdara, while Le Cardinal, associated with Soumaila Coulibaly, was feverish for a good part of the first period.

Imperial in his cages for an hour, while his team led against the run of play, Marco Bizot held the house. His teammates then showed cold realism in the opposing penalty area to put an end to any suspense.

Thanks to Mahdi Camara (66th), Mathias Pereira Lage (75th) and above all a double from Abdallah Sima (24th, 70th), Brest won for the second time in as many outings and temporarily sits at the top of the ranking. An important step towards possible qualification for the play-offs, before hosting Bayer Leverkusen, German champions, on the third day.
