While Paris Saint-Germain hosts Newcastle this Tuesday evening in the Champions League, this essential meeting with a view to qualifying for the 1/8 final was punctuated by incidents that occurred between supporters on Monday evening. Six individuals, including four on S files, were arrested.

Decisive meeting this Tuesday evening at the Parc des Princes between PSG and Newcastle. Both teams have every interest in winning to qualify for the 1/8 finals of the Champions League and, off the field, the duel has already started, but not in the best way. According to the police, a fight started on Monday evening in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, in front of a drinking establishment, between fans of the two teams.

On social networks, videos broadcast show images of clashes between the two camps. In front of a bar, we see men, dressed all in black, throwing tables, chairs and even smoke bombs in the direction of Newcastle fans. According to information from Europe 1, no injuries were reported, but, according to the police, the police intervened and arrested six individuals, including four on S files, followed by the intelligence services.

“No surprises”

“There is no surprise because, ultimately, the English say ‘We have eradicated hooliganism’ which is false. And no surprise either for the Parisians because with the return of the supporters to the stands, we felt a little tension building for some time. And the gatherings were more likely to take place outside,” explains Dominique, a specialist in hooliganism and professor at the Fontainebleau political institute.

To Europe 1, the Parisian club indicates that the security system planned for this Tuesday evening’s match remains unchanged. Despite the incidents, 2,000 English fans will be in the stands in the stands of the Parc des Princes.
