A fall for PSG. The Parisians were beaten on Arsenal’s pitch this Tuesday evening, during the second day of the Champions League (2-0). Luis Enrique’s men do not follow up after their success against Girona at the Park.

PSG failed to imitate Brest and its two victories in as many matches this Tuesday. For its first European trip of the season, Paris lost 2-0 on the pitch at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal. The capital club paid dearly for a missed first period.

An attack at half mast

The Arsenal revealer highlighted the limits of a young squad, without a technical leader, guilty of defensive naivety and a crippling lack of commitment before the break. The semi-finalists of the last edition gave in with a header from Kai Havertz (20th, 1-0), then a free kick from Bukayo Saka (35th, 2-0). Deprived of Ousmane Dembélé, dismissed by Luis Enrique, the latter had great difficulty in being dangerous. Understudy for “Dembouz”, the young Désiré Doué delivered an anonymous performance, until his exit in the 64th minute.

Two weeks after their last-minute victory against Girona (1-0), Bradley Barcola’s partners experienced a first hitch in this new Champions League formula. A defeat from which they will have to learn lessons between now and October 22 and their next meeting against PSV Eindhoven, otherwise they will see their goal of qualifying directly for the round of 16 (already) slip away.
