Klopp holds course at the beginning of the “farewell tour”

On Friday, Jürgen Klopp announced his plan to leave Liverpool after his current contract expired. Until then, he still has a lot planned, the first title of the season has already been won. The title is also in the league. Thank you for an impressive series that has now been extended.
Liverpool are hot on the heels of leaders Manchester City in the English Premier League. Six days after winning the League Cup, coach Jürgen Klopp’s team beat West Ham United 1-0 (1-0). After their seventh league success and eleventh competitive win in a row, the Reds are only three points behind defending champions Man City in second place in the table and thus have a chance of winning the championship.
The Senegalese Sadio Mané scored the only goal of the game in the 27th minute. However, there were plenty of opportunities. In the packed Anfield stadium, both teams were aggressive right from the start and offered the audience an entertaining game. However, Liverpool got more out of the game overall and deservedly left the pitch as winners.
Last Sunday, Jürgen Klopp, who wants to stop coaching at Anfield in 2024, won the League Cup for the first time with Liverpool (11:10 on penalties against Chelsea). The team is still in the running in three other competitions. On Tuesday, Liverpool will play the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Inter Milan (first leg 2-0). On April 10th there will be a top game in the Premier League at Manchester City.
“Then it says: Thank you very much!”
Klopp announced on Friday that he would be leaving Liverpool after his current contract expired in the summer of 2024. “The plan at the moment is for me to do it by 2024, and then it’ll be: thank you very much!” said Klopp. The 54-year-old, while not committing himself 100%, did hint that he could take a break from football. “I love what I do. But I’ve said it a few times: there has to be something else in the world than just thinking about very talented, good-looking and fantastically nice footballers.” In the summer of 2024 he will be in office for almost nine years and he has already promised his family that he will take a break after his current contract expires.
At the moment he is still “full of energy” for his job. “But we have to make sure it stays that way,” said the Liverpool coach, who won the Champions League and first championship with the Reds in 30 years. “You don’t want to end up sitting around tired and thinking: Why is everyone interested in what’s going on out there? I don’t care at all.”
