Change at Vodafone Kabel: The TV frequencies are now changing here

VODAFONE CABLE GERMANY

Vodafone has been changing numerous TV frequencies for months. The project is slowly coming to an end. However, a station search may currently be necessary in the following regions.

  • Do you have a problem with Vodafone TV reception? This may be due to a change in frequencies in the provider’s cable network.
  • Up to 350 stations are affected by this. The changeover has been underway since August 2022.
  • The process is currently reaching the Ruhr area, among others.

There are currently more and more reports of problems with TV reception in our Vodafone cable fault reporter. However, there is currently no known problem. Therefore, the difficulties are probably related to a frequency change by the provider.

Vodafone’s cable TV network is currently being standardized. For this purpose, the company is making changes to the reception frequencies. The changeover is taking place gradually and began in Nuremberg in August 2022 and is far from complete.

As information available to Netzwelt now shows, Vodafone will clearly miss the time targets it has set for changing channels in its cable network. Due to two major interruptions around the 2022 World Cup at the end of last year and again from the end of January to the beginning of April 2023, it is no longer possible to achieve the targeted goal of completion in July 2023.

The reason for this is greater preparations than had been assumed in the federal states of Vodafone West (formerly Unitymedia), namely Baden-Württemberg, Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia. The cable channel conversion will only begin there once the measures in the other federal states have been completed – probably in the second half of 2023.

What is certain is that the full digitalization of cable radio will take until the turn of the year. The reason is the same here. In the other 13 federal states outside the former Unitymedia area, Vodafone had already completed the shutdown of the analog radio signal in 2018.

The changeover is currently taking place in these regions

You can find out when you will be affected by the change on this Vodafone website. According to the unofficial Vodafone Cable Helpdesk forum, the following regions will be affected by the change in the next few days:

  • November 9th: Münster
  • November 14th: Villingen-Schwenningen, Kassel
  • October 31st: Frankfurt am Main and the surrounding area
  • November 16th: Ravensburg
  • November 21st: Sigmaringen
  • November 28th: Bensheim
  • November 30th: Pouring
  • December 5th: Gelsenkirchen, Bergisch Gladbach, Cologne, Odenthal, Rösrath and Marl
  • December 7th: Kassel

Vodafone cable customers have to keep this in mind when changing channels

So if you can’t receive some channels via your Vodafone cable connection at the moment, you shouldn’t panic. A station search usually provides a quick remedy here. Vodafone points out that the change will occur automatically in the vast majority of cases.

Anyone who uses receivers from Vodafone, Unitymedia or Sky doesn’t have to do anything other than check the changes the following day. If you use other devices, you may have to carry out a manual channel search, as mentioned.

By the way, if the station search doesn’t bring any improvement, you can find out about possible outages in the Vodafone network in our fault reporter.

A notice: Do you live in rent and is your cable connection provided by your landlord? Then you’ll have to sign your own TV contract soon. Because cable television via the landlord will end by June 30, 2024 at the latest due to a change in the law.
