Change in strategy for the Galaxy S23: Samsung apparently responds to fan requests

Is Samsung changing its strategy regarding the components used in the Galaxy S23? An insider suggests so. The manufacturer would thus meet the wishes of many fans.

Samsung has been pursuing a two-processor strategy for its Galaxy S series for years: In parts of the world, the cell phones appear with the company’s own Exynos chipset, while in other parts the South Korean manufacturer relies on processors from Qualcomm. That could change with the Galaxy S23.

According to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Qualcomm could become the sole supplier of chipsets for Galaxy S smartphones in the future.

Many of you should welcome this. In recent years, Samsung fans in Europe in particular have complained that the Exynos processor is weaker than the Qualcomm chips and doesn’t work as efficiently. This is also proven by numerous benchmarks on the internet.

Is there a delivery bottleneck?

However, the supply by Qualcomm could also have disadvantages. Many manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Realme, Oppo and Asus, get their processors from the US manufacturer. Should Samsung now increasingly rely on Qualcomm processors, this could lead to delivery bottlenecks. For some time now there has been a shortage of semiconductors, which are essential for the production of chipsets.

However, it remains to be seen whether Samsung really changes its processor strategy for the Galaxy S23. In previous years, there were more similar rumors, in the end they turned out to be ducks.
