The messenger WhatsApp is making a change to its Android app. The three dots above the chat list can be seen again in the main menu. As usual, you can use it to open a menu that, among other things, gives you access to the settings.

It was only in October 2023 that WhatsApp banned the three points from the main menu and instead displayed a thumbnail view of your profile picture, which you could use to open the settings. Now the roll follows backwards.

However, it is unclear whether WhatsApp will keep the three points. The profile picture would actually make more sense, because WhatsApp has been offering you the option of using the messenger on one device with two accounts for a few weeks now. This way you would always see which one you are logged in with.

Android app under construction

Recently, several visual changes have been made to WhatsApp’s Android app – for example, the appearance of the buttons in Messenger has been changed. According to rumors, the messenger wants to adapt it to Google’s Material Design 3 guidelines.

WhatsApp has not yet officially commented on the redesign. Other planned innovations include moving the menu bar from the top to the bottom and introducing filter options. The color scheme should also be changed. These changes are already being tested in the beta version of the messenger on Android phones.
