Changing the battery of your iPhone will cost more: do it before the price increase

Apple will soon increase the cost of replacing an iPhone battery. We are talking about a €24 increase, from March 1, 2023.

Inflation also affects Apple’s after-sales service. On the official page “After-sales service and repair of the iPhone”, we discover a small note indicating that the cost of replacing a battery will soon increase (excluding warranty and AppleCare + contract). The Cupertino company will increase prices by €24.

This increase, which will be effective from March 1, 2023, concerns “ all iPhone models before iPhone 14 » (the latest model released). Today, replacing the battery of your iPhone costs between 55 and 75 €. In a few weeks, you will have to pay at least 79 €. If you were planning to give your smartphone a second life, do it as soon as possible.

When to replace the battery of your iPhone?

Replacing the battery of your iPhone can be relevant to give it a few extra years of use, as Apple is always pushing the compatibility of its software updates further. Paying less than €100 will always be cheaper than buying a brand new model for several hundred euros.

Remember that it is recommended to replace the battery when it has only 80% of its capacity left (the capacity decreases with each complete cycle).

You can check its status directly in the iPhone settings: Settings > Drums > Battery status and charging.

As spotted by MacRumors in an article published on January 2, Apple is also preparing to increase the cost of replacing a battery for other devices in its catalog (still from March 1):

  • MacBook Air: +€36;
  • MacBook Pro: +€60;
  • iPad: +€40.

In short, do not wait to replace the battery of an old Apple device that can still provide some service.
