If further proof were needed that Songs of Sennaar is a real video game gem to try urgently, the Academy of Video Game Arts and Techniques provided it by approving the title during the 2024 edition of the Pegasus ceremony. During an awards ceremony which also focused on the difficulties of the sector, Songs of Sennaar was awarded the title of best video game, best independent video game, but also that of best game design. As a reminder, Songs of Sennaar slips us into the shoes of the Traveler who will have to explore a Tower (which inevitably recalls the Tower of Babel) by discovering and deciphering, little by little, the language of the five civilizations which inhabit it; a fun experience that is as stimulating as it is profound, tackling themes that are often rarely covered by video games.
Another big winner of the evening, Unknown Soldiers: Brothers in Arms (Following Unknown Soldiers: Memories of the Great War) from Ubisoft Montpellier won three titles: best mobile video game (note that the title is arriving today on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Switch for €14.99), narrative excellence and the “beyond video game” award.
Finally, we will also point out that the title of best foreign video game has returned to the unstoppable Baldur’s gate 3 and that the public, apparently more fond of AAA games than the Academy of Video Game Arts and Techniques, voted for Assassin’s Creed Miragethe big production from Ubisoft Bordeaux.
