Charente Two Rafale planes collide in the middle of an aerial demonstration

The incident created panic in the town of Gensac-la-Pallue (Charente). Two Rafale planes collided in flight this Sunday during an aerial demonstration organized as part of the Cognac Air Meeting, report our colleagues from South West.

No injuries were reported, but homes in Gensac-la-Pallue, located not far from the Cognac-Châteaubernard air base, were damaged after the fall of debris. “It looked like a gunshot, we went out, there was dust everywhere,” described a resident of the village to the Aquitaine daily.

The causes of the collision between the two planes are not yet known. Colonel Lyautey, who heads the air base, told South West that “three investigations have already been launched”.
