Charging stations at independent service stations: the State is getting involved!


While France has 75,279 charging points open to the public, i.e. 28,737 terminals (monthly figures from Avere-France), not all departments are in the same boat in terms of equipment. And rural areas sometimes lag behind. Hence the idea of ​​the French government to rely on small independent service stations that mesh the national territory.

This choice is not due to chance. In effect, “thanks to their territorial network and the role of social cohesion that they play everywhere in France, small independent service stations must become key players in the energy transition, closer to the French“, said Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Minister of Energy Transition.

This is how an envelope of 10 million euros was opened in order to “co-finance the deployment of charging stations for electric vehicles” from independent service stations. Only those delivering less than 2,500 m³ of fuel per year (i.e. 4,000 in France) will be eligible for this aid, accessible from 1 December 2022 from the Environment and energy management (Ademe).

Depending on the power of the terminals (50 or 150 kW), State co-financing may be between 60 and 70% of the cost of the installation.

This boost was a commitment made by the State to Parliament, which had voted this budget envelope, declared Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, during the announcement. of this help.

This is the second time that the government has intervened in favor of independent service stations. The first dates back to August 22, with the establishment of a subsidy to apply the “fuel discount“until the end of December 2022. Depending on the average volume of fuel sold in 2021, some 880 small service stations had been able to benefit from aid of €3,000 or €6,000.
