The sun was shining on the Côte d’Azur this Monday, September 16. The week therefore begins in the most beautiful way for Albert and Charlene of Monaco who had a mission of the utmost importance to accomplish. As great animal lovers, the Monegasque couple had an appointment in the town of Peille for inaugurate the new SPA shelter, animal protection society.

It was in the company of other members of the family including Camille Gottlieb, daughter of Stéphanie of Monaco, and Gareth Wittstock, brother of Charlène, that the parents of Gabriella and Jacques (soon to be 10 years old) appeared. They joined the mayor of the city, Cyril Piazza, the mayor of La Turbie, Jean-Jacques Raffaele, the journalist and joker of TF1, Jacques Legros, Isabelle Peters and Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, both vice-presidents of the SPA.

While all eyes were certainly on the new refuge, they were mostly drawn to the class and elegance of Charlene of Monaco. For this outing, the South African had opted for a brown skirt-sweater set which suited her perfectly. She had accessorized her outfit with nude pumps and a pair of black sunglasses. Because if the weather was fine in this beautiful region of France, the temperatures have seriously dropped as in the rest of the country. Reason why Charlène had therefore taken her precautions.

A new essential refuge

The SPA has been saying it over and over again: there is a serious lack of facilities and places to accommodate abandoned animals. The inauguration of this new shelter is therefore excellent news for all members of the association. This new building was built at an altitude of 700 m on two levels. One is dedicated to dogs, the other to cats. Quarantine areas have been set up for new arrivals to ensure they integrate perfectly. And everything has been thought of. For animals that, for example, do not like the company of others, special boxes are provided. And a detail that is very important: each animal will have a dedicated outdoor space.
