Charles III: a man arrested after throwing himself in front of his car

King Charles III did not expect to see an individual throwing himself in front of his car when he had just been made king at the end of the morning. We try to see more clearly in this mysterious story.

This Saturday, September 10, Charles III had a date with history. The kind of event that cannot be forgotten. Camilla’s husband officially ascended the throne in front of cameras around the world – a first in the history of the British monarchy. The ceremony was held at St. James’s Palace next to Buckingham Palace. We met part of the royal family there, including William, who yesterday became the new Prince of Wales, but also a large part of the British political class. A crowd had gathered around the palace to assure the monarch of his support. At the same time, Charles III made a great announcement to his subjects: the day of the funeral of Elizabeth II will be a public holiday for British subjects. We are already whispering the date of Monday, September 19 in the corridors of Buckingham. A few rounds of arms later on the side of Hyde Park and the emblematic Tower of London, the new sovereign climbed aboard his Rolls Royce to enjoy a walkabout.

So far, everything was fine… Or almost! On the way to Buckingham Palace, Charles III’s vehicle was suddenly interrupted by the irruption of a man who was immediately tackled to the ground by the police. A video widely circulated on social networks shows six police officers swooping down on the individual being dragged to the ground and then handcuffed to the cheers of the crowd who came to see his new monarch parade. The man was then searched before boarding a police van. The incident did not ultimately interrupt the procession made up of bands and horsemen. Charles III returned to his home safe and sound shortly before 2 p.m. in the company of his queen while at the Royal Exchange the crowd greeted him by singing the national anthem of the United Kingdom, which for two days had become ” God Save the King “. Minutes later, Prime Minister Liz Truss was sworn in to ” His Majesty King Charles, to his heirs and successors before the House of Commons.

Charles III is not popular in his kingdom

Charles III will not be able to bask in his palace after receiving an orb and scepters during the coronation ceremony scheduled for Westminster Abbey on a date yet to be determined. In effect, the successor ofElizabeth II does not enjoy the same popularity as his late mother. A YouGov opinion poll carried out almost six months ago reveals that “only” 58% of British respondents support him. Charles III thus arrives in fifth position ahead of his son William and his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton, while the “renegade” rating of Harry and Meghan plummets day after day. His moving first speech to the nation, his ” beloved mother ” and his family last night nevertheless managed to touch his subjects in the heart. Known for his positions in favor of ecology, Charles III will have to roll up his sleeves in the battle of ideas which will oppose him to Liz Truss in a country victim of record inflation. For sure, we will follow this new story with the greatest attention!
