Charles III: this breach of royal protocol which would have “shocked” Elizabeth II

Modernity or protocol: Queen Elizabeth II has always had difficulty reconciling the two. If she consented to the marriage of Prince William to a commoner and of her son Charles to a divorced woman, there are other areas on which she remained intransigent: the length of the skirt below the knee, the absence of gestures of affection in public, the ban on crying in public, the dress code depending on the event, the order of precedence of family during public engagements… There are rules for everything! Suffice it to say that she would turn in her grave at the sight of her son’s first year of reign, during which he transgressed more than one of these rules.

Angela Levin, royal expert, revealed to our colleagues at GB News one of the gestures that Charles III made and which broke royal protocol, declaring in passing that the latter, carried out by the king while he was speaking with two children in a London cancer center, would have “shocked” his deceased mother : “They had both had cancer and they gave him and Queen Camilla a bouquet, and the king came out with a big bag of gifts which he gave them. He wanted to give them something in return.” Note that, traditionally, royal protocol stipulates that members of royalty can only receive gifts from the public, and not give them.

Charles III: a more accessible king

The royal expert, however, clarified that these breaches of protocol have made the king “even more accessible” to the British public. However, this change in behavior on the part of the sovereign would not be trivial. Indeed, after the death of His Majesty, Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, did not expect the British to support them so much and would have been very surprised to find crowds of fans in front of Buckingham Palace . According to Angela Levin, “the year when it all started, when it became much easier to be with the people, was actually after the Queen’s death, when they returned to Buckingham Palace.” As a result, Charles III decided to break some codes in order to get closer to the British. A good strategy? Only time will tell !
