Charles III: this gift offered to William for his 13th birthday who did not thrill Lady Diana at all

Prince William received a very special gift for his 13th birthday, as indicated by Christopher Andersen in his book devoted to the new king. An object that Lady Diana did not appreciate at all.

  • Charles III gave Prince William a very unexpected gift for his thirteenth birthday.
  • The king wanted to mark the occasion for this special event.
  • Prince William was delighted with his gift while Lady Diana did not appreciate it at all.

It’s a gift he didn’t expect. Since his birth, Prince William has been a member of the royal family and he enjoys many privileges. However, he can also count on his father, King Charles III, to offer him very special gifts… On June 21, 1995, the Duke of Cambridge celebrated his thirteenth birthday and, like every year, his parents wanted him to please. As Christopher Anderson reveals in his book The King: The Life of Charles III, published in November 2022, the successor of Elizabeth II had opted for an unexpected gift. Indeed, he wanted to make available to his son… his own butler. “William was totally delighted“explains the writer before adding that, for her part, Lady Diana was not at all thrilled. “She was very surprised by the enthusiastic reaction of her son, who was delighted to have a servant all to himself.“, he then declares. A special gift for a teenager.

Prince William was over the moon, as was King Charles III. However, this gift was not unanimous and Lady Diana did not seem to understand her husband’s decision. In his book, Christopher Andersen indicates that this gift seemed to be very relevant for Charles III. In effect, it’s only at the age of 21 that he was able to have his own butler and he regretted it very much. Thus, he did not want to make his son experience the same thing. “It was way too late“, he would have said to his private secretary before giving details. “I really needed one in Gordonstoun but my dad was always trying to tough me out“, he would have said. It was Stephen Barry who became the first butler of the Prince of Wales and it is in all transparency that he evoked this experience. If he does not remember the smallest details, the principal concerned indicated that he has good memories of it. I could never forget that he was the master and I was his servant“, he specified in the columns of the book.

Lady Diana: why did her butler recently come out of silence?

For ten years, Paul Burrell was Princess Diana’s butler. Thus, he knows the royal family very well, down to the smallest detail. Now 64 years old, the latter suffers from prostate cancer and he does not want to die without having spoken. In the columns of The Mirror on February 17, he spoke of his intention to “tell the truth to Princes William and Harry”. But what does he want them to know? “I think what I have to say might bring the boys back together, which Diana desperately wanted. I’m just telling them the truth, that’s all. I’m not looking for anything in return.” he said before continuing: “IThere are things that happened in their mother’s world that they may not know about. And I think that might fill some of the voids.” Can this discussion take place? Will she reconcile the two brothers?
