Country star Charley Pride died of complications from Covid 19 at the age of 86. Many stars mourn the singer.

Country legend Charley Pride has died at the age of 86. The musician died on December 12th in Dallas, Texas, of complications from Covid-19, according to the star's Facebook page. The multiple Grammy winner, best known for hits like "Kiss an Angel Good Morning", appeared at the CMA Awards in Nashville on November 11th. He was hospitalized at the end of November: "Despite the incredible efforts, skills and concerns of his medical team in recent weeks, he was unable to defeat the virus."

Pride had 52 top ten country hits, including numerous number one titles. His career began in the mid-1960s. In 2000, the award-winning musician was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

"A gentleman, a legend"

Numerous celebrities mourn Pride. Former US President George W. Bush (74) said according to the New York Times that the Mississippi-born singer was "a fine gentleman with a great voice". Country singer Dolly Parton (74) wrote on Twitter: "It hits me so much that one of my dearest and oldest friends, Charley Pride, has passed away. It's even worse to know that he died of Covid-19. What a terrible, terrible virus. Charley, we will love you always. rest in peace. My love and thoughts are with his family and all his fans. "

Billy Ray Cyrus (59) tweeted a picture of himself with Pride and toldthat he met the singer in 1992 in Australia "to play shows together": "A gentleman … legend and true trailblazer". In another tweet he wrote: "Charley Pride opened the door to so many, including me." And Cyrus added, "He broke down walls that should divide."
