Oscar winner Charlize Theron and “Mulan” director Niki Caro are working on a Netflix film about big wave surfers.
Charlize Theron (45) is about to start her next big project as a film producer: Together with “Mulan” director Niki Caro (54) she is planning to make a film about big wave surfers for Netflix. This is what the industry magazine “Variety” reports.
The film is based on a “New York Times” article about the struggle for equality among world-class women surfers. Bianca Valenti, Andrea Moller, Paige Alms and Keala Kennelly are fighting to be able to participate equally in major surfing competitions.
Occupation still unknown
Niki Caro will direct the Netflix project. Theron is on board with her company Denver and Delilah Productions. Nothing is currently known about the cast of the film and a possible release date.
