OpenAI has managed to create as much buzz around its conversational agent as around the annual models ofiPhone. Consequently, rumors around ChatGPT 5 have multiplied in recent weeks.
It’s now been a year since OpenAI released the new version of its GPT 4 language model. To celebrate, the company led by Sam Altman is preparing to release the new-new version of its tool, GPT 5, in the coming months. According to information obtained by Business Insider, it would only be a matter of weeks.

Several sources, all seeking to remain anonymous, spoke to the English-speaking magazine by affirming that the 5th major version of the OpenAI conversational agent would arrive this summer. Several of the company’s partners were even able to try out the new features of the model and ChatGPT 5 in preview, provided of course that they do not reveal anything about the new features in preparation.
One of the managers who was able to get their hands on the tool nevertheless affirmed that GPT 5 was “really good” and even “noticeably better» than the current generation of ChatGPT. Business Insider claims that this model would “to carry out tasks independently» without us knowing exactly what it is about.
If no official release date has been communicated by OpenAI, it seems that GPT 5 is still in the training phase for the moment, but almost ready to move on to the testing phase. The latter consists of checking the limits of the robot to avoid problems with moderation and illegal content generation. Depending on the level of adjustments necessary, the release of the new version could be more or less delayed.
GPT 5… and what’s next?
To spice things up a bit before announcing this new version, Leopold Aschenbrenner (engineer at OpenAI) published a cryptic message on X on March 16. The researcher affirms that the year 2023-2024 will have been “so far the slowest in terms of the evolution of artificial intelligence», suggesting, implicitly, that the coming years will therefore be much more turbulent on this front.
The engineer is part of the team dedicated to “superalignment” at OpenAI, which ensures that artificial intelligence systems are precisely aligned with human values and act in accordance with them. Enough to give some ideas as to the new features that the company is preparing with GPT 5 and its successors.
