Microsoft and Discord don’t hang around to improve the integration of the chat service in the Xbox consoles.

But as often before the deployment, first place in a test phase.

Discord gets better on Xbox

A little over a month ago, Discord landed on Xbox consoles. Good news slightly tempered by the fact that the use of the service is not ideal. It is indeed impossible to use the audio chat tool directly on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S: going through the app on your smartphone or computer to transfer a voice call to your console remains mandatory. But that will soon be history.

In an update for Xbox Insiders, Microsoft offers to test a direct connection to calls that take place on Discord servers. A Discord button has thus been added to the Guide in the “Groups and conversations” section. Pressing it, after connecting your Discord and Xbox accounts, then allows you to directly join a server and a voice channel from your console.

On the other hand, to join a direct voice call with one or more friends, you will have to continue to go through the current solution. Likewise, text chat support still doesn’t seem to be relevant.

More improvements coming to Xbox

This Xbox update offered in the Alpha Ring has other elements. A new Captures application is notably part of it to better manage its screenshots. Performance and interfaces have been improved.

The Ukrainian language is also making its debut, alongside some fixes. A long list of known bugs remains to be fixed, however.

Finally, it is possible with this patch to stream to Twitch from the Guide using a Lightstream or Streamlabs subscription. All you have to do is link your accounts and choose the desired option in the streaming settings.

While waiting for all this, remember that an update for Xbox Series consoles has just arrived.
