Cheap small car – The MG3 is coming – and it’s not an electric car!

MG stands out for us with cheap electric vehicles, such as the compact MG4, but also with combustion engines that also play the price card. Now a small car is to follow: the MG3. Not much is known about it yet, but at least it will celebrate its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show at the end of the month.

The series is not yet known in our part of the world; the current MG3 is sold in China, but also in Great Britain, where the MG brand was originally created before it became Chinese. The car is based on the Chinese Roewe 350. Now the successor is waiting to be transported to Geneva – and from there to the rest of Europe, so to speak. Or at least part of the continent. MG doesn’t really have a clue when it comes to sales planning. The Austrian importer is also playing the mystery game. Whether the MG3 is worth the excitement remains to be seen; the brand’s models offered so far are particularly interesting for very price-conscious customers. The MG ZS is positioned directly against the Dacia Duster. The MG3 will probably be based on the Dacia Sandero and will have a mild hybrid petrol engine under the hood. Electric drive is not planned. Technical details have not yet been revealed, but teaser photos and a teaser video (see above) already suggest that the looks of the MG3 could be a selling point. The shape of the front air inlets could come from a BMW designer, the flat snout that converges in the middle and, above all, the carbon (look) splitter ensure a dynamic appearance. One can only speculate about prices at the moment.
